Global Survey 2023: How health and wellbeing programs are showing a positive ROI

Wellbeing

Earlier this month we released our Global Workplace Health & Wellbeing survey results where we made some big discoveries…

This year’s survey gathered 600 responses from HR and Benefits Leaders across the globe. The survey showed that organizations are seeing success in their health and wellbeing programs – and getting ROI!

In fact, 71% said they can clearly see an ROI from their program and 67% ranked positive employee behaviors as the top outcome of their health and wellbeing efforts.

And it’s not just about the money: organizations reported that a healthy workforce drives employee engagement and positively impacts culture at work as the top two drivers for implementing their health and wellbeing program.

2023 has been difficult to navigate for many people and businesses, still recovering post-pandemic with added financial turbulence. However, the survey showed that companies are looking to make smart decisions that benefit both their employees and their bottom line in 2024.

They are focusing on ways to reduce costs while adding investments in health and wellbeing, mental health, and health navigation to support employee productivity and engagement.

It heartening to see that employee health and wellbeing program participation grew 67% in the past year, leading to positive employee behaviors (again, aiding the ability to see ROI clearly). And most survey respondents indicated that improving the health of employees and increased retention & recruitment are goals for their health and wellbeing efforts for the next 1-2 years.

Employers are adding/increasing investments in:

“There is an increasing perspective that ROI is being delivered with their wellbeing efforts, and is significantly up from where it was pre-pandemic…that speaks to having a greater awareness of the complexity of managing dispersed workforces and hybrid models, less centralized than we were pre-pandemic and also accommodating different ways of measuring the ROI.” Jeff Jacques, Chief Medical Officer at Personify Health.
