Monthly Step Challenges

With the help of Personify Health, the client introduced a refreshed wellness program for its US-based employees. This included monthly Step Challenges where employees created teams and competed for the top spot, leading to increased engagement and a healthier, more active workforce.

Challenges at a glance

  • Types of Challenges: Saying the client enjoys running Step Challenges is an understatement. In fact, they have done a Challenge each month in 2024! Their team thrives on competition and enjoys the Staged, Basic, and Destination Step Challenges. Additionally, they also participate in Personify Health’s monthly Promoted Healthy Habit Challenges.

  • Selecting a Theme: Knowing their members best, the client looked through the Personify Health Challenge Lookbook and picked a theme that best resonates with their members.
  • Challenge Engagement: They usually see between 150-200 employees participating in each Challenge with 5 members per team.
  • Rewards and Incentives: Typically, they reward the First, Second, and Third Place Teams. However, the HR vs. Finance Challenge was focused more on “bragging rights” to help unite departments.

HR vs. Finance Destination Step Challenge

Seeing the success of the US-based Challenges, the client ran a special two-week Step Challenge to expand their reach to some of their global HR and Finance departments.

The client encouraged participation by sending custom communications to their HR and Finance departments. Communications included information about enrolling in the Personify Health program, joining a team, how scoring works, and information about Personify Health.

As their first International vs. US Step Challenge, they used the “Scale the Summits” Destination Step Challenge theme where participants had eight thrilling summits to hike, from Morocco to Nepal, with the encouragement to rally their team to reach them all.

To incentivize teams even more, they also noted that the winning team was going to select the charity to which they would donate.

Challenge Recap

  • 22 teams inclusive of 139 players

  • 18M+ steps taken (that’s 9,000+ miles)
  • Winning team scored 10M+ steps and their leadership is in final preparations their charity donation
