Welcome to sunny Phoenix, Arizona – where the desert energy was high and the Personify community gathered once again to kick off our annual Thrive Summit. From the moment attendees stepped into the Sheraton Phoenix Downtown, it was clear: this week is all about purpose, connection, and showing up for the why behind better health outcomes.
With DJ Cassandra setting the tone at registration and Thrive-inspired activities buzzing throughout the foyer, Day 1 opened with warmth, intention, and a palpable sense of momentum. Old friends reunited, new connections formed, and the journey to Be the Why officially began.
Pre-conference connections that set the stage
The morning unfolded with a rich lineup of pre‑conference workshops, offering space for deeper conversation and focused learning across our diverse Thrive community.
Highlights included:
- Women in Leadership with Megan Miller, where attendees explored identity, self‑advocacy, and bold leadership in a rapidly shifting cultural moment.
- Client Community sessions that invited Insider clients into candid discussions with Personify Health leaders and peers to explore market challenges and provide opportunities to contribute to future enhancements.
- The Blues Summit, hosted by McKinsey’s Sameer Chowdhary, which provided Blues plan clients valuable market insights, explorations of innovative strategies, and peer networking.
- Consultants & Brokers networking, lead by Personify leaders, that created a collaborative forum to exchange perspectives and shape what’s next in our priorities and initiatives.
- Meanwhile, the Partner Exhibit Hall came to life — an energizing midday oasis where attendees refueled, explored innovative solutions, and engaged with Personify partners that are shaping the future of whole‑person health.
From intention to inspiration on the main stage
The afternoon marked our first *official* gathering, as Thrive MC Mark Jefferies welcomed attendees – in the room and in our livestream – and officially opened the 2026 mainstage experience with our keynote speakers.
The Personify “Why”
After a warm welcome from Personify CEO Pete McCabe, Kirk Rosin, our chief commercial officer, set the tone with a powerful reflection on why this work matters — and how personalization is key to simplifying, improving outcomes, and making healthcare truly work for people. With an understanding of the issues of rising costs and complexity in healthcare, he instructed the audience, “You are here to think big and challenge where you are today. What are you going to take away starting today that will change the trajectory of healthcare for you, your family, and your organization?”
Kirk went on to recognize that the status quo can’t continue, “If employers continue to buy healthcare the same way they have for the past 10 years, they’re not going to have a different outcome than they have the past 10 years. For me, the next decade will not be defined by who pays for the care. It’s going to be defined by who improves health.” That’s Personify’s mission: making healthier easier.
Longevity, prevention, and what’s next
Medical journalist and Stanford physician Dr. Alok Patel followed with an engaging and – dare we say uproarious – look at longevity, prevention, and emerging health trends. His talk blended clinical insight, captivating storytelling, and actionable perspective to provide all of us with guidance on what we should be doing to live healthier and longer.
Dr. Patel noted that “when we talk about health span and longevity, it’s not about biological age. We’re talking about the epigenetic age.” He cautioned about giving much credence to what we hear from podcasts. It’s really about remembering three things when it comes to living better:
1. The basics are cheap.
2. Wellbeing is a practice.
3. Add life to your years.
Regardless of circumstances, Dr. Alok believes that if we show up for people, and if we give people the tools they need to make wellbeing a practice, the circumstances don’t matter too much. There’s great power in community and connection!
Finding my “Why”
The day culminated with an inspiring and deeply personal conversation led by Minnie Driver, Oscar‑nominated actress and advocate. Blending candor with wisdom, Minnie reflected on caregiving and healthy aging — encouraging the audience to prioritize connection, lifestyle, and emotional wellbeing over unrealistic promises.
We were captivated by Minnie’s calm yet engaging discussion, starting with insights into her upbringing, family, and breakthrough into show business. She spoke about balancing a career that takes her away from home and how important it is to devote even short amounts of time to those you love. She also shared her experience from her mother’s final weeks, and how she and her siblings respected their mother’s wish to have her surroundings be full of life, not sorrow. She noted, “So much of caregiving is listening. Really listening to where they’re at.”
Minnie closed her conversation with a refreshingly honest take on aging. “I truly believe in longevity,” she shared. “Hollywood is very focused on the way you look – to an absolute fault. I believe in the longevity of your goodness and your moral compass.” While respecting personal choice, she encouraged curiosity, self-reflection, and the courage to truly know yourself – not just strive to look well. A powerful reminder that real longevity starts from the inside out.
Breakouts, tracks, and takeaways
As the afternoon continued, attendees fanned out across five breakout tracks — Be the Influencer, Be the Engager, Be the Advisor, Be the Change, and Be the Experience — diving into real-world strategies, peer insights, and practical lessons to take back to their organizations.
