Whether you\u2019re typing, in meetings, having lunch, etc. And yet, we\u2019re told to hit a daily target of 10k steps.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I know what you\u2019re thinking.&nbsp;<em>\u201cHa! The workplace wellbeing activity you didn\u2019t know you needed \u2013 until now.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">What <em>is<\/em>\u00a0a walking meeting?\u00a0<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A walking meeting is quite literally what it says on the tin.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em>\u201cA workplace meeting \u2013 usually held in the office or at home \u2013 that takes place outside, whether virtually or in person.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em>&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In Nilofer Merchant\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.ted.com\/talks\/nilofer_merchant_got_a_meeting_take_a_walk?language=en\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">TEDTalk<\/a>, she discusses how \u201csitting has become the new smoking\u201d due to its ever-growing health concerns.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On average, a typical office worker sits&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/why-sitting-is-bad-for-you#prevalence-of-sitting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">more<\/a>&nbsp;than they sleep. And&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cancer.gov\/about-cancer\/causes-prevention\/risk\/obesity\/physical-activity-fact-sheet\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">data<\/a>&nbsp;shows us that a lack of exercise increases the chances of health problems like breast or colon cancer.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The more we move, the greater our chances of living a healthy and fulfilling life. So, although getting outside for a meeting has tons of benefits, making it mandatory might not be the right choice for&nbsp;<em>all&nbsp;<\/em>employees.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">If you\u2019re walking as a group, make sure to look up accessible paths with smooth, flat terrain to cater to all exercise levels.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Most importantly, ask.
