HealthComp is thrilled that Jose Corral recently joined our sales team. Jose brings a wealth of health benefits and administration experience, plus in-depth relationships with the broker and benefit advisor communities.

For this month’s blog, we reached out to Jose to provide our readers with more information about his role, background and goals as he gets ramped up at HealthComp.

Tell us about your role and responsibilities at HealthComp.

As Director of Enterprise Sales, I work with regional and national benefits consulting firms to address the needs of large and national account employer groups. Increasingly, in my experience, benefit advisors and their valued customers require solutions and platform engines such as HealthComp that offer flexibility and agility, to meet the needs of their growing and diverse member populations.

Health benefits remain one of the most important and debated topics in our country. They represent the second-largest spend for the majority of today’s employers. From a member or patient’s perspective, taking care of your health is one of the most personal and intimate experiences in one’s life—and yet managing those benefits and navigating the healthcare system is often complex, frustrating and expensive. It shouldn’t be that way. My passion resides in listening, collaborating and designing solutions that convey empathy, drive access to quality care, and address financial opportunities for employers and their members.

Tell us a little about your background.

It’s crazy to think that I have been in healthcare for 20 years now! I first started working with great people at traditional carriers including Cigna, United Healthcare and Aetna. Recently, my healthcare journey introduced me to the TPA world. Joining HealthComp this year has re-energized my ability of creating custom, data-driven solutions that address the needs of employers and their biggest asset: their employees.

What are some of the latest trends you see in the health benefits market?

The “benefits ecosystem” continues to evolve. With so many point solutions available for health and wellness, advisors and employers need a trusted, foundational partner who can help them customize and integrate the best solutions for them. And, they need to present them in a way that appeals to members. That’s how you drive change. At HealthComp, we have the flexibility and the expertise to help employers integrate both proven and new solutions.

What are you most excited about in terms of joining the HealthComp team?

We have a clear vision for transforming benefits administration, simplifying the member experience, and positively changing lives.

Our operational best practices are taken from more than 25 years of experience in benefits administration. We take a disciplined approach to data, financials and clinical management. We have operational efficiency down to a science, handling thousands of claims and stop-loss transactions in accurate and timely fashion, and with the philosophy of doing the right thing each and every time.

But our operational excellence isn’t the only thing that sets HealthComp apart. Today, employers want to work with a TPA that can also deliver outstanding service to members. HealthComp is doing just that, and we are humbled to have one of the industry’s highest net promoter score (NPS) of 77. We also have deep clinical expertise with over 80 members in our care management department. 45 of them are nurses who are dedicated to creating a superior member experience. When members receive a diagnosis, our clinical team help them navigate the complicated healthcare system while helping to control the cost of that care.

HealthComp has also invested in technology. We have a sophisticated platform for members, HR administrators and brokers. And, our analytics solution is one of the best in the industry. In essence, I feel like I have joined an innovative healthcare startup with a 25-year foundation.

What are your main goals and objectives in this position?

My main goal is to help tell the rich HealthComp story. HealthComp has a vast amount of operational and clinical knowledge embedded throughout the organization. Our net promoter score rivals that of Amazon, Nordstrom and Apple. By looking at our track record, companies will see that we have the capabilities to positively impact their health outcomes and drive down their costs. I am passionate about effectively sharing this story with the marketplace.

Is there anything else you’d like to share?

I’m enjoying this stage in my career. I’m collaborating with both new and familiar broker and benefit advisors. I’m simply building on the positive HealthComp reputation in the marketplace by telling the story of how we help brokers and their clients implement innovative programs that save costs and enhance member satisfaction.
